New York, NY — February 18, 2020 – In a TV exclusive airing on Tuesday, INSIDE EDITION’s Jim Moret sits down with adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who is speaking out about her one-time lawyer, Michael Avenatti, who was convicted of attempted extortion of millions of dollars.

I definitely had figured out what a monster he was,” Daniels tells INSIDE EDITION of Avenatti, who famously represented her in a suit against President Trump.

This week, a jury in New York found Avenatti guilty of trying to extort $20 million from sportswear giant Nike.

My initial reaction [to his conviction] was ‘high five, yes!’” says Daniels. “Then honestly, a couple days later, I just felt really sad because deep down some part of me didn’t want to believe all those terrible things about him.”

Daniels hired Avenatti after she alleged she had a relationship with President Trump, claims the President denied. Avenatti and Daniels later had a falling out after she accused him of keeping $300,000 from her book deal. Avenatti is still facing criminal charges from Daniels in that case. He has pleaded not guilty.

It’s not even that much money in the grand scheme of things,” Daniels tells INSIDE EDITION. “But it’s more of the betrayal than the money. Somebody that I trusted looked me in the face every single day for a year and lied to me.”

When asked her assessment of Avenatti, Daniels tells INSIDE EDITION, “He’s actually not a good lawyer. I believed up until very recently that he was, but he’s not. He made a terrible mess of paperwork, just basic filings and paperwork.”

She adds, “I mean, he conned me.”

Michael Avenatti will be sentenced in June. He faces as much as 40 years in prison.
