INSIDE THE NFL RETURNS TONIGHT AT 9 P.M. ET/PT FOR SEASON 13 ON SHOWTIME®
James Brown Hosts Alongside Analysts Phil Simms, Brandon Marshall And Ray Lewis; Michael Irvin Serves As Contributing Analyst
NEW YORK – September 8, 2020 – The Emmy® Award-winning studio show INSIDE THE NFL returns to SHOWTIME for the 13th consecutive season tonight, September 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT to kick off its 43rd season on television.
The cast features the return of two-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl XXI MVP Phil Simms (in his 13th year on the show), six-time Pro Bowler Brandon Marshall, two-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis and three-time Emmy Award-winning host and a 2020 inductee into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame James Brown in his 11th season as host. Three-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin will serve throughout the season as a contributing guest analyst. Initially, the cast will not be in studio and episodes will be taped remotely.
Tonight’s premiere episode touches on a number of compelling topics, as the cast reflects on an unprecedented offseason that saw superstars like Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Cam Newton and Philip Rivers sign with new teams, the Washington Football Team drop their former team name, and a worldwide pandemic and social justice movement that have both had profound impacts on the sports world. Following a powerful piece voiced by Brown that takes viewers through a timeline of pivotal moments in the fight for racial justice dating back to Colin Kaepernick taking a knee in 2016, Simms, Irvin and Marshall engage in a thoughtful conversation about how this summer’s racial unrest will impact the NFL season. Plus, NFL Senior Writer Judy Battista interviews Dr. Allen Sills, NFL’s Chief Medical Officer, about what the league is doing to keep players safe, and the cast looks ahead at what will be a season unlike any other.
