Regular-Season Highlights

 

          More people watched NFL ON CBS regular games than on any other network in the 2011 regular-season. Through 17 weeks of the 2011-12 season (9/8/11-1/01/12) THE NFL ON CBS regular-season games were seen in all-or-part by an estimated 161.0  million viewers, 1% higher than FOX’s 159.3  million; 9% higher than NBC’s 147.7 million viewers; and 52% higher than ESPN’s 105.9 million.

         The cume is based on Total Viewers (Persons 2+) who have watched at-least six minutes of NFL game coverage since the start of the 2011 regular-     season.

 

 

  •  THE NFL ON CBS’s AFC package averaged a household (HH) rating/share of 10.9/22 for the 2011 regular-season.  Last year was the network’s second-highest rated regular-season rating in 13 years – since CBS re-acquired broadcast rights to the NFL in 1998.  Last year was second behind 2010’s 11.1/23.

 

  •  THE NFL ON CBS’s games for the 2011 regular-season averaged 18.4 million viewers (Persons 2+)  -- The 18.4 million viewers was the second highest viewer average for the AFC  regular-season television package in 24 years, dating back to 1987 (as far back as CBS records exist). The highest remains 18.4 million viewers for CBS in 2010.

 

  •  THE NFL ON CBS’s National games in the 2011 season averaged a HH rating/share of 14.4/26 for nine telecasts. Last year’s 14.4/26 was the highest average rating for the CBS National game since CBS re-acquired broadcast rights to the NFL in 1998.

 

  •  The CBS National game telecasts in 2011 out-rated NBC’s primetime NFL package by 9% (14.4/26 vs. 12.9/20). This marked the 11th consecutive season (since 2001) that the CBS National game on Sunday afternoon has beaten the NFL primetime broadcast package.

  •  For the 17 weeks of the regular-season, all telecasts of  THE NFL TODAY averaged a HH rating/share of 2.8/7 and averaged 4.3 million viewers.

 

  •  THE NFL TODAY’s  4.3 million viewers in the 2011 regular-season (Sunday and Thursday), was the second highest number of average viewers for THE NFL TODAY since 1998.
