CBS SPORTS BROADCASTS THE 97th PGA CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 25th CONSECUTIVE YEAR FROM WHISTLING STRAITS GOLF CLUB AUGUST 13-16

 Late Night Highlights of First Two Rounds Broadcast on
Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14 on the CBS Television Network

 

For the 25th consecutive year CBS Sports will be on-hand this August with live 18-hole coverage of the 97th PGA Championship contested at Whistling Straits Golf Club in Kohler, Wisc.  Rory McIlroy will defend his title a year after he won an epic battle as darkness fell at Valhalla.  McIlroy earned his second Wanamaker Trophy and his fourth career major championship.  

 

Jim Nantz, three-time Emmy Award-winner and five-time National Sportscaster of the Year, will serve as anchor of CBS Sports’ 2015 PGA Championship golf coverage. Sir Nick Faldo, winner of six major championships and more than 40 tournaments worldwide, will serve as lead analyst.  Ian Baker-Finch will call the action at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th hole, Frank Nobilo at the 15th  hole, Verne Lundquist at the 14th hole and Bill Macatee at the 13th hole. David Feherty and Peter Kostis will serve as on-course reporters.   

 

CBS Sports’ cameras will capture the action at all 18 holes of the PGA Championship with live coverage of the third and final rounds on Saturday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 16 (2:00-7:00 PM, ET; both days). In addition, CBS Sports will broadcast highlights of early-round action with Macatee and Feherty on Thursday, Aug. 13 and Friday, Aug. 14 (12:35-1:05 AM, ET/PT; both nights). Bob Mansbach will produce the highlight shows. Jim Cornell will direct.

 

CBS Sports will feature an unprecedented level of production and technical enhancements for the 97th PGA Championship.   Production elements on CBS will include:

 

Drone Cameras – For the first time, drone cameras will be used at a PGA Championship capturing aerial views of the course, helping to identify landing areas on the fairways and greens and providing live action of select holes lining Lake Michigan.

 

SwingVision – The Emmy Award-winning technical innovation, SwingVision, featuring super-slow action to break down players’ swings and demonstrate shots from various parts of the course.

 

Protracers – In addition to the use of Protracers, CBS will use an enhanced Protracer that shows a target line and ideal landing spot for a player’s first shot on the Par 4 and 5 holes.

 

GolfTrax – An animated aerial view of all 18 holes which will identify ideal landing areas and hazards.  GolfTrax also visually shows the undulations on the greens.

 

CBS Sports’ full coverage of the PGA Championship on Saturday and Sunday will be streamed live on CBSSports.com, and the site also will feature additional on-demand video content. For mobile users, the live streaming will be available on the CBS Sports app for iOS and Android, as well as through the CBSSports.com mobile website (m.cbssports.com).
