“This was Damian Lewis’ best season of television.”
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (August 2, 2017) – The complex power struggle continues in the second season of BILLIONS, the latest collection of the acclaimed SHOWTIME series starring Academy Award® nominee and Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Paul Giamatti and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis. Arriving on August 15 from Showtime Networks, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution, the DVD features a behind-the-scenes look at the latest season, including a special interview with cast member Asia Kate Dillon on their groundbreaking portrayal of Taylor, the first gender non-binary character on television.
The second season picks up immediately after the explosive season one finale, which ended in a head-to-head confrontation between hard-charging U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti) and billionaire hedge fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Lewis), giving no mercy in the scorched-earth battle to retain the power positions they’ve spent a lifetime building. After being deftly outplayed, Axe is upping his game and using his considerable resources to exact revenge on ruthless Chuck Rhoades. Axe’s aggressive move sends Chuck reeling as he finds himself under investigation, forced to scramble to hang on to his office and his family. But the embattled prosecutor still has some tricks up his sleeve and it’s not long before Axe learns that money can’t buy everything – or everyone.
Also starring Maggie Siff (“Wendy Rhoades”) and Malin Akerman (“Lara Axelrod”), season two finds the characters vying for control in a changing world that presents an existential threat. For all of them, it's a choice between evolution and extinction. Toby Leonard Moore, David Costabile and Condola Rashad also star. Guest stars this season include Rob Morrow, Dan Soder, Kelly AuCoin, James Wolk, Christopher Denham, Mary-Louise Parker, Danny Strong, Glenn Fleshler, Eric Bogosian and Asia Kate Dillon. BILLIONS is created, written and executive produced by showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien. The series is also created and executive produced by Andrew Ross Sorkin.
In addition to all 12 episodes of the thrilling season, the BILLIONS – SEASON TWO DVD collection also includes several special features. In Being Billions, the actors discuss character preparation and what they would do if they were as wealthy as Bobby Axelrod. The cast also reflect on the Big Apple in Making Billions in New York, highlighting how the city is also an important character within the drama. Asia Kate Dillon is featured in They Theirs & Them, which explores the series’ new character Taylor Mason, who identifies as gender non-binary and what that means to them personally.
The DVD is presented in Full Frame Format with English 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital. The DVD is Not Rated in the U.S. and rated 14A in Canada. The total running time is approximately 11 hours and 34 minutes. The disc breakdown is as follows:
