Season One

Debut Season Collection Includes In-Depth Featurettes And Deleted Scenes Available On DVD With UltraViolet Digital Copy August 9

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (June 20, 2016) – Starring Oscar® winner Marcia Gay Harden1 as a doctor in the country’s busiest emergency room, CODE BLACK: SEASON ONE arrives on DVD, August 9 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution. The debut season will also include a digital copy of the film enabled with UltraViolet, available in the U.S. only.

CODE BLACK: SEASON ONE includes over an hour of bonus material including three newly produced featurettes that dive further into the gripping drama. Also starring Bonnie Somerville (“Criminal Minds”), Raza Jaffrey (“Elementary”), Luis Guzmán (Anger Management), Melanie Chandra (“NCIS: Los Angeles”), Harry Ford (Louder Than Bombs), Benjamin Hollingsworth (“CSI: Miami”), and William Allen Young (“Madam Secretary”), CODE BLACK focuses on the heroic doctors and nurses who operate with speed and skill to save lives.

Inspired by the 2013 documentary by Ryan McGarry, CODE BLACK is a heart-pounding medical drama that takes place in the most notorious ER in the nation, where the staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all—creating a condition known as Code Black. At the heart of the ER’s controlled chaos is Residency Director Dr. Leanne Rorish (Harden), renowned for successfully performing high-risk procedures in Center Stage, the trauma area reserved for the most critical cases. Her four new first-year residents are Christa Lorenson (Somerville), Malaya Pineda (Chandra), Mario Savetti (Hollingsworth) and Angus Leighton (Ford). Leanne’s confidante, Jesse Sallander (Guzmán), is an amiable seen-it-all senior nurse who manages the residents. Also working in the ER is Dr. Neal Hudson (Jaffrey), an excellent physician who sometimes disagrees with Dr. Rorish’s “cowboy” approach, and Dr. Rollie Guthrie (Young), the energetic, longest-serving attending. In Center Stage, life is measured in seconds, and these heroic doctors and nurses operate with speed and skill within an overwhelmed system to treat the crowds of people who are often there for one of two reasons: to die or to receive a life-saving miracle.

The CODE BLACK: SEASON ONE DVD offers three featurettes, including Doctors’ Notes, which highlights the mesmerizing score for the series with composer Clinton Shorter. Crash Course focuses on the spellbinding episode “Black Tag,” taking a special look at the creation of the horrific car crash that set the stage for the episode. Plus, Code Black: The Faces Of Angels dives further into the series with new interviews with the cast and crew.

Featuring deleted scenes, extended scenes and a gag reel, CODE BLACK: SEASON ONE is presented 16x9 Full Frame Format with English 5.1 Surround and English Stereo Surround with English SDH subtitles. The DVD is Not Rated in the U.S. and rated 14A in Canada.  The total running time is approximately 12 hours, 46 minutes. The disc breakdown is as follows:
