‘The Talk’ Hosts Discuss Juneteenth; ‘It should be a federal holiday’

The hosts of “The Talk” discuss the significance of Juneteenth Friday on “The Talk@Home.” Sheryl Underwood says, “It should be taught in school, because I think the more people who learn about someone’s origin, the more you understand why they are struggling and why they are fighting for justice and equality...That is why you hear people chanting ‘Black Lives Matter.’” She adds, “I do believe that Juneteenth should be a federal holiday. It should be taught. It should be commemorated, and people should remember it so that it never happens again.” Eve adds, “When I was in school we did not learn about Juneteenth, at all. It was not until I got out of school where I learned about Kwanza, and we celebrated Kwanza in my house, that we talked about Juneteenth...I feel good to be alive at this time.” Sharon Osbourne says, "This is the first I've heard of this, and I've lived in this country for 40 years...it's ridiculous." Underwood adds, “We are all connected in this struggle for justice and equality...if we are not free, you are not free, and we all want to live in freedom.”
